I’ve never died before or been on hospice. I don’t know the protocols or expectations and I don’t feel like I am dying, so I guess I’ll just go about business as usual trying to shine for Jesus the best I can.
I fondly remember as I’d drop my littles at school, I’d holler after them, “don’t forget to shine for Jesus!”
Then we’d all share how God used us to bless others during after school snacks and again during dinner with dad.
I’m persuaded that there’s never a time, even on hospice that we shouldn’t make it our first order of business to be a blessing. And when others come with pity for the heavy cross we are bearing, our best response can be, “oh this!? It’s nothing compared to the cross my dear Savior bore for me!”
I must keep reminding myself and my fellow sufferers that our momentary light afflictions are our privilege to carry for they draw us closer His heart where all things are put back in their proper perspective.
Wouldn’t Satan be pleased if I made ALS about me and allowed fear and self-pity to drown my joy and trust? He knows self-focus will lead me to sin. Instead, I’m too stubborn for God’s glory to allow him a win. ALS will not distract me from my duties as a slave of Christ.
Thanks for listening as I preach this continually to myself lest I fall flat on my face and bring shame to my Master.
I’ll leave you with a giggle from Rick’s sermon long ago. Don’t let your pity party turn into a carnival cruise!
I hope the darling reminders in my shop are a blessing to you and yours as you too do everything in your power to shine for Jesus and let the world see the hope that is in you!
The great thing in prayer
I hope you linger over these beautiful words and I hope they describe your relationship with God. I'm reminded of many of you who are currently in my prayer warrior study! I would love to hear what the Holy Spirit has been teaching you! Are you...
I’m convinced what Satan meant for evil, God is using for my good & His glory!
Two years ago the Holy Spirit woke up a dear friend in the night with an urgent burden to pray for me. I'm forever grateful she didn't disregard God's leading because the next morning I began to slur my words, the symptom that ultimately led to being diagnosed with...
Bucket List: Kris’ Merch
I did something so wonderful from my bucket list while hospice was here transferring me into their care. I put the last touches on a Valentine's collection I designed for you in my website shop.... with my eyes! How cool is that? I've always wanted to share some of...
My Faith Shall Soon Be Sight!
It seems my blessed chariot took a practice run by my house a couple days ago. I was in bed designing Valentine's merch on my eye gaze tablet and noticed how shallow my breaths were and how near I was to passing out. Divinely, Sarah was near. I had my tablet speak to...

Let's play a round of cringe worthy things Christians say when they mean well but forget their theology! I've definitely been guilty of trying to say something helpful but cringed as the words came out. You too?I'll go first! Let's say you're going through a...

Asking questions is crucial to discipleship
Asking questions is crucial to discipleship. I’ve grown much from inviting older women to coffee and peppering them with questions like this: “What was the most difficult trial in your life and how did God guide you through it?” One woman buried her teenage son,...
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat
Before #als took away the use of my arms and legs I LOVED going to downtown Birmingham with my church family to pack boxes of food for friends in need. As I’d add my 2 cans of veggies and 2 proteins along the assembly line, I’d pray for the family who would get that...
Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God
But seriously…what believer in Jesus Christ can be content with a mediocre life when our Savior has called us to such heights of sacred service?? He showed us how it blesses Him when we wash the feet of the arrogant, give the coat off our back or even something as...
What is ALS?
I sure didn’t know any of this until June of last year so I thought I’d post it for my dear prayer warriors who pray so faithful for me! Please be encouraged that God is answering your prayers in unbelievable ways! I will try to make another video to share some...
